New Delhi, 21st August 2024 — The Modern Poets, a vibrant community dedicated to promoting art and supporting artists, is proud to announce the staging of Ek Hai Amrita: A Free Spirit’s Rasidi Ticket, a theatrical play that brings to life the extraordinary journey of Amrita Pritam. The Modern Poets, known for their cultural shows, theme-based poetry events, and theater productions across India, continue their tradition of celebrating artistic expression with this latest production.

Ek Hai Amrita delves into the essence of love, as embodied by Amrita Pritam. The play takes the audience through the streets of her childhood, offering a glimpse into her rebellious youth, and culminates at the poignant stage of her life where she transcended her physical form, leaving her soul to the world of literature. This play portrays Amrita’s life as one of profound depth, where every dream and every thought is woven into the fabric of her literary legacy.

Directed by Mohit Dwivedi, the play highlights the significant milestones of Amrita Pritam’s life, from her encounters with the legendary poet Sahir Ludhianvi, the deep pain she felt during the Partition of 1947, to the period of depression that shadowed her in the 1960s. It also beautifully captures her deep friendship and shared life with Imroz. The play is a tribute to Amrita’s standing in the literary world, drawing inspiration from her own autobiography, *Rasidi Ticket*.
