AMU Student Naved Alam Gains International Recognition with Prestigious Research Appointment at Waseda University, Tokyo

Aligarh, August 20, 2024 – Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student Mr. Naved Alam has achieved international recognition by being inducted into prestigious International Research Projects in the field of Language. This appointment as a Research Assistant (Adjunct) at the esteemed Faculty of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, highlights Mr. Alam’s exceptional academic prowess and commitment to advancing research on a global scale.

The appointment, made by Prof. Tania Hossain, Ph.D., Professor of Sociolinguistics and Former Assistant Dean at Waseda University, is a testament to Mr. Alam’s outstanding academic credentials and potential. His role will involve assisting in research activities, contributing to ongoing projects, and gaining invaluable experience in an international academic environment.

Mr. Alam is a dedicated student with a notable record of academic and social achievements. He has served and reoccupied as an ELT Pretesting Research Partner at the ELT Division of Oxford University Press, represented AMU at international and national levels, won the election of United Nations Associations Co-Chair, served as Vice Chair of the UNICEF Committee for IGMUN, UNA-USA, and has been honored with the India Book of Records for his contributions while having high number of certificates and countless awards in various fields. Additionally, he was a special delegate nominated by BMF Hyderabad to visit the President of India’s residence in 2019. Academic Student Youth Representative since 2018 Elections of Students’ Union and elected as a Cabinet Member of the Students Union.

Mr. Alam expressed his gratitude to Madam Vice Chancellor for her encouragements and overwhelming support for all the students, while also mentioning his gratitude for his mentor Prof. Md. Rizwan Khan for his unwavering support, giving understanding of good research work and all, and the Faculty Members including Chairman Department of Mass Communication Prof. Afrina Rizvi and Prof. Vibha Sharma, Department of English, for their guidance and support.

The research project , which is set for one year or more depending on the supervisor’s requirements, will allow Mr. Alam to engage in research spanning language learning, media literacy, and communication studies. This achievement underscores AMU’s commitment to fostering global academic connections and providing its students with platforms to showcase their talents internationally.
